Would you rather have a small, boring room or a small beautiful room? That’s what I thought. And this little room is the perfect response to those who preach that too many moldings in a small room make it look confining.
This room is a small hallway that opens up to two bedrooms and a full bath. What better way to decorate a room you’ll be going in and out of constantly than with beautiful moldings?

I love the combination of this room! I am absolutely crazy about the lower portion of the wall showing through the doorway, any idea what that is?
I can’t tell if that is a miniature wainscoting or if it is a baseboard-painted wall-molding combination. It would be great to know how far off the ground the top of that section is.
Hi Al. 18″. That’s how high the top of the baseboard is.
Large baseboard or half-size wainscoting, I’m not sure which one is the more correct term (perhaps “pedestal” is even better?).
If you like that one, then you’ll love the new version of that we’re going to install in our living room. I’m going to make a few small design changes that will make it even better. Oh, and we’re going to paint it a dark “French Roast” color with deep, red walls.
It’s going to be one of my all-time favorite rooms when we’re all finished.
