mdf board home depot1/4″ Thick Pre-Cut 2′ X 4′ Sheet

When you only need a small piece of 1/4″ thick mdf board for a molding project, then you can go to Home Depot and buy one of their pre-cut boards.

You pay a premium for the convenience, of course, but sometimes it’s worth it.

For example, Jennifer and I just bought two pieces to use in our half bathroom, rather than special order it from the only independent lumber yard in town (poor service).  I’m going to make our stepped crown molding from it.

I also built this little diy spice rack for Jennifer (half way down the page) using one sheet of it.  That’s a pretty inexpensive spice rack!

I taught myself how to design, install, and paint period style moldings because I couldn't afford to hire a pro to do it for me. You can do it too -- it's really easy -- I'll show you how!

  1. can I buy it with the legs pre-cut? I don’t want my mdf running away in the lowe’s parking lot.

  2. It just goes to show you that crown molding can be fun with or without clothes. Just watch out in those public spaces!
